Summer Rental feels like a fever dream you don’t want to wake up from. The band—born from members of Grouplove and Gasoline Heart—drifts between the buzz of Brooklyn and the slow burn of Atlanta, channeling both cities into a sound that’s jagged, melodic, and emotionally unguarded. Their debut EP didn’t make a lot of initial noise, but it stuck with the people who found it. Now deep into recording their debut full-length, Summer Rental is leaning into the beautiful mess of it all. After a stripped-down set with Jesse Lacey in Nashville, they landed the opening slot for the first Brand New shows in years—a surreal and defining moment for a band that’s quietly becoming impossible to ignore.
